It's Back To School Time! Dear Wolfpack, Welcome back returning students -- and for new students, welcome to Apache Trail High School -- Home of the Wolfpack! We hope that the next academic year will be your best yet. As we jump right into the new school year, there are many things that have been considered by educators all over the state regarding their budgets. Funding for education continues to be decreased while graduation requirements continue to increase. The issues that arise due to this dilemma have plagued schools for many years. Whether it is a large school or a small one, there are only so many ways in which fiscal cuts can be made, but year after year we find a way. At ATHS we have done our best to make sure that these budget-related decisions have the least amount of negative-impact on our students. With that in mind, I want to assure you that ATHS students will continue to experience a small Learning Community that provides its students with a Quality Education. The entire staff at Apache Trail HS welcomes the new and returning students with much anticipation for the coming school year. All of our teaching staff are returning to ATHS for the 2010-2011 school year - they are Mr. Howe, Mrs. Tuma, Mr. Brown, Mr. Garland and Mr Harris. Also returning, but with additional responsibilities, are Ms. Blaisdell as Curriculum Coach, Mr. Anderson as Assistant School Leader & Athletic Director and Ms. Harmon in Student Services - Blaisdell will continue to service as an English teacher. Returning support staff for ATHS are Ms. Dunham, Mrs. Brimacombe, Ms. Stewart, Mrs. Watson and Mr. Moore. Sadly, we have had to say farewell and good luck to Ms. Slack as Assistant School Leader of ATHS from 2007 to 2010. She will be returning to the classroom as an English teacher at one of our sister-schools in Mesa, Sun Valley High School. We wish her the very best this coming school year. The Apache Trail HS Wolfpack Football Program starts their 3rd season with one thing in mind - defending the 2009 CAA State Championship. Head football coach Greg Garland leads our team into the coming season with practice starting July 26. We would also like to thank the local business and community members that have made contributions to the Program thus far and a special thanks to Cobb's Restaurant for the community partnership we have formed - stop by today for a meal in the Official Wolfpack Football Dining Room. If you have not already made a decision regarding high school for the coming school year, please call now - 288-0337 - and find out how Apache Trail High School can help you Secure Your Future! Apache Trail HS is located at 945 W. Apache Trail in Apache Junction, is managed by The Leona Group AZ and is NCA Accredited through AdvancEd. For more information, please visit http://www.apachetrailhs.com. We look forward to seeing you soon! On behalf of myself, Giles Glithero - School Leader, John Anderson - Assistant School Leader and the entire Apache Trail HS staff, have a great year and Go Wolfpack!

Dear Wolfpack Members, I know it's still summer, but I would like to say "Welcome back returning students --and for new students, welcome to Apache Trail High School-- Home of the Wolfpack!" We hope that the next academic year will be an educationally profitable one for you. Word-of-mouth is our most powerful tool regarding the strong academic programs and small learning community we provide at Apache Trail High School. Over the years we have continuously increased the graduation rate for ATHS -- we are proud of what our students have accomplished and it is our goal to have ALL our students have this same success. We also want to provide these opportunities to as many students as possible, so if you know another student that would benefit from attending ATHS, please have them call the school, as we are signing up new students for Orientations. Thank you for your help and we look forward to another great year and a fulfilling one for all. Every year we invite our Returning Students --urge them-- to attend a Year-Long Planning session (YLP). Please note below the dates and times available for these sessions. If you have not already done so, please call the school and reserve your time slot. In addition, please stop by the school to pick up a Returning Student Enrollment Packet --certain re-enrollment forms are required to be completed every year. New Students can make an appointment for a YLP aftertheir first 9-week block of attendance. During YLPs, we discuss your current credit level and what you will need to do in order to graduate by a given time. New students: please note the mandatory NEW Student Orientation dates and times also listed below. Enjoy the rest of your summer and we look forward to seeing you soon! Sincerely, Giles Glithero, School Leader | John Anderson, Assistant School Leader YLPs (Returning Students) *Call to make an appointment July 12: SENIOR Day July 13: JUNIOR Day July 14: SOPHOMORE Day July 15: Alternate Day NEW Student Orientations Thursday, July 22 @ 2:00 pm Friday, July 23 @ 10:00 am Tuesday, July 27 @ 3:00 pm Thursday, July 29 @ 9:00 am Tuesday, August 3 @ 10:00 am Thursday, August 5 @ 2:30 pm Don't forget: School starts MONDAY, August 9 @ 8:00 am! Apache Trail High School offers its students many ways to catch up on credits or get ahead. ATHS has a unique block schedule system that has proven effective for over a decade in more than 20 Leona Group schools in Arizona. Our block system allows students to concentrate on three (3) or more subjects for nine (9) week blocks, and having four (4) blocks during the school year permits students to earn six (6) credits at the end of a successful academic year (1 class = 0.5 credits). An ATHS student can enroll in a fourth class for one (1) or more blocks, allowing an additional 0.5 to 2 credits to be earned. It is easy to see that a high school student that has fallen behind or one that wishes to graduate early can benefit from such a program. Apache Trail's highly qualified teachers strive to incorporate various teaching strategies to address multiple learning styles. Academic success is our focus and that focus is centered on the whole student. Call today to find out more or Stop by to pick up an Enrollment Packet for this school year. WOLFPACK FOOTBALL Wins State Championship! Apache Trail High School brings home the big trophy in Saturdays AzCAA Division B State Championship Game! Congratulations Wolfpack Football! Apache Trail High School defeated the number 1 seeded team, Heritage Academy, at Phoenix Christian HS -- Saturday, November 21, 2009. Heritage was the only team to defeat Apache Trail during their near-perfect regular season. The Wolfpack finishes with an overall record of 11-1. The game was a sight, to say the least. Whether the team was down or tied, the young men never gave up. With a score of 28 - 26, you can imagine that it was a tense and tight game. With the last 6 seconds on the clock, it was still any ones game. The outcome, however, is REAL -- it will be something that the players will remember for "55" years and more.
ATHS would like to thank the community of Apache Junction for the encouragement and fan support. Your letters, emails and presence at the games are the fuel for this teams drive. GO WOLFPACK! Giles Glithero - School Leader

Attention Business Owners & Citizens of Apache Junction: My name is Giles Glithero and I am the school leader of Apache Trail High School. Like many educational institutions in the city, state and across the nation, we are feeling the pinch of current budget woes. Therefore, I am requesting the help of surrounding communities in an effort to help provide our students with the tools needed to be successful. The majority of our classes are taught by highly-qualified and certified teachers. In addition, we offer a computer-based credit recovery program that enables some students to catch up on missed credits and get back on track for graduation. Our computer lab is quickly becoming outdated, despite upgrades. We have found ourselves struggling to provide up-to-date and adequate technology for students. As our nation continues to advance technologically, it is critical that our students gain exposure and experience with current equipment in order to be successful beyond high school. Recently, as part of a professional development day, our teachers met with leading Technology & Education expert Dr. Tim Tyson (drtimtysom.com). During the training our teachers brainstormed a bit and realized that you might be able to help with upgrading our lab by sponsoring a piece of equipment that will be used by our students. Local businesses or individuals may also be interested in purchasing a computer for the school* at a cost of approximately $650 per unit from our vendor, knowing that their donation is going toward an admirable cause. If your local business is upgrading its office computers, then ATHS could benefit from the donation of the used systems. If you feel that as a community member or business owner you can help in any way, I welcome suggestions, guidance and, of course, donations. Please feel free to contact me by phone or email. Apache Trail High School has been a member of the AJ Chamber of Commerce since 2000. *American Charter Schools Foundation d.b.a. Apache Trail High School is a non-profit 501 (c)3 -- there are tax benefits for individuals and businesses wishing to donation. Respectfully, Giles Glithero Apache Trail High School ATHS is accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI) through Advanc-ED (http://www.advanc-ed.org), is charter by The American Charter Schools Foundation (ACSF) and is managed by The Leona Group, AZ - LLC (http://www.leonagroup.com/AZ).
