Nationally renowned jazz legends, Mike Crotty and Deater O'Neill will perform with their jazz ensemble in a concert of jazz music with horns, vocals, piano, bass and drums at the Gold Canyon United Methodist Church on Sunday, January 10 at 3:00 PM in the church's 1200-seat Sanctuary, one of the finest acoustic spaces in all of Arizona.
Crotty and O'Neill first began making music together in 1981 and regularly performed throughout the Washington, D. C. area, including the Kool Jazz Festival at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. They are now residents of Gold Canyon and have performed throughout Arizona. Crotty's arranging talents have created their distinctive sound, often using O'Neill's voice as a second horn and pairing it with Crotty, whether he plays trumpet, flugelhorn, flutes (alto, C or bass), or alto, soprano and tenor saxophones.
Doug Benton, the church's Director of Music Ministries, says, "This will be an outstanding afternoon of great jazz! Come early for a great seat and enjoy!" This concert is free and open to the public, though a freewill offering will received to help defray expenses. Everyone is asked to please bring at least one non-perishable food item per person for the Gold Canyon United Methodist Church Food Bank. The church is located one block north of Hwy 60 (the Superstition) on Kings Ranch Road (Walgreens on the corner) in Gold Canyon, 3 miles east of Apache Junction. For more information, please call the church at 480-982-3776.Attachment: crottyoneill2.jpg (Downloaded 3 times)
