I like "Manatee"'s idea of a bike path.  He seems to be on the right track.

This link was posted by "rfolland" and it is worth reading and considered, if the Sun Cities are to be in the mix.

You reported that, on January 8, Recreation Centers of SCW staffers presented an idea list for marketing Sun City West.  The Rec Ctr spokeswoman indicated newer generations of seniors are folfing less.  Yet, brainstorming ideas included expensive new improvements to golf facilities (remaking 18 hole courses into 9 hole courses, adding banquet facilities, scoreboards, barbeque areas, expanding golf cart fleets, and remodeling on-course bathrooms).

Recently, some under-used tennis courts at Palm Ridge were converted to pickleball courts to accommodate an activity growing in popularity.  So why not convert some underused golf course land to other more popular uses?  For example, SCW Softball is growing rapidly in popularity.  A new women's league has been inaugurated and vintage baseball has been added.  Liberty Field is reaching its saturation point with open practices becoming limited.  Why not convert some underutilized golf course land to softball practice fields and parking facilities for players' vehicles?  In this fashion, a popular, growing activity will be better accommodated and more seniors will be attracted to Sun City West.

For a start convert one to a linear park for walking, and biking, include an exercise/obstacle course.

If we still have a negative cash flow, make one a bird sanctuary.

Lease one to a concessionaire. See if anyone can make it self sustaining.

On the front page of the SCW Independent{Jan20th}addition.Spokeswomen Katy O'Grady, for the Rec .centers, spoke of brainstorm ideas in which to increase needed revenue, particularly to our ever so increasing, money hungry golf courses,in Sun City West.

These ideas, were stated as such, add banquet facilities, new improvements to pro shops, scoreboards with advertising on each course, barbecue areas/ramadas with covers, improved golf carts/expand the fleet, new cart barns and the best for last update the bathrooms on the courses.

Yeah, right give me a break,we are basically losing money on these courses as we speak and you want to throw more of our money into the hole? The bottom line is,most  can't afford to play on these courses, let alone put more money into them. The best brainstorm idea would be to start closing these courses down, especially the ones that dont turn a profit or have little or no activity.

When will you people wake up,stop living in a "brainstorm fantasy world" and get into the real world and stop throwing money into a wasteful situation that no one can afford.
