Mr. Kloss - I was just at the Sun City Post Office on Bell Rd just east of 99th Ave. and wanted to tell of my experience.

I arrived at 8:45 AM on Tuesday morning. I walked in and there was 9 people in front of me with 3 postal employees working the windows. I was out of there and back in my car 9 minutes later. Everybody in line was pleasant and were smiling, so I assume you were not in line today.

Mr. Kloss, first I would assume that you would carry a chair where ever you went because all you and your fellow neighbor, Mr. Goodman, do is b*tch and complain about everything!

Like ALL of your past letters to the editor, your complaining and constant whining again prove to be fabricated and over exaggerated. My advice to you is to get a hobby do something constructive with your time instead of wasting paper with your petty editorials.

Kloss,

I'm glad they changed the system (According to Cincinnatus, I have Mr. Bush to thank, I guess.)

I used to walk into the SC post office, grab a number and wait my turn.  Let's say I had number 55.  Ok, I'd wait while they called off numbers with the corresponding number being displayed on the wall.

They would call out "54...54...54!"  No response.  "55!"  Then the fool who didn't have his hearing aid on and had number 54 would finally jump up to the window ahead of me.  The next employee would then shout out "number 56!"  Then, I'd have to throw a fit.  This happened at least 4 times to me down there.

Mr. Kloss,

Get over it.  Maybe your USPS office is crowded.  So go when it is not as crowded.  Use the automated postage machines so you don't have to wait in line.  You really seem to have some sense of entitlement don't you?   You're outraged over having to stand in line or not having benches?

With the new USPS flat rate boxes, you can have them pick it up for you.

Let me remind you sir that the USPS is a Constitutionally mandated public service.  That is not one thing I want privatized.  Secondly, there are plenty of fine PRIVATE services you can use to ship your packages-- USPS, FED Ex, Airborne, etc.   Don't like the USPS, have the private company ship your package.  But bear in mind, these private companies you think are so great will likely charge you the same or likely MORE than the USPS with as good or longer service.

With all the issue we have to deal with, you chose lack of benches to complain about?

Get a grip.

Mr. Kloss,

The local postmaster did not make the decision to have people stand in line, or do away with the benches. It was made about two years ago (during the Bush Administration) at the Postmaster General level in Washington DC.

Yours very truly,

Cincinnatus

Postal service declines

I recently read an article on the U.S. Postal Service that was right on the money.

The Postal Service was once a model of proficiency. But over the years it has gone downhill. Service has declined while rates keep going up every year. Like many federal agencies, it would be better off if run privately. Politicians are in a power grab. They want control over every aspect of the person’s life, including the health care system.

I cite the Sun City Post Office at 98th Avenue and Bell Road as an example of a poor operation. At any time the waiting line for service is out the door. At one time a customer could get a numbered ticket and be able to sit down for the long wait. This was taken away and customers are now forced to stand in the long line.

At this point, when I’d go, I would ask the customer behind me if I could go and sit on one of the benches to wait for my turn. Then they took away the benches and again forced customers to stand. This area is made up of older residents. It should be a crime to make them stand and wait, sometimes holding heavy packages. I’ve written to Sen. Jon Kyl, who I hope will correct this drastic thoughtlessness.

The manager of this branch should be relieved of the job and replaced with someone who has common sense. As you know, government employees are never fired for incompetance. Sometimes they get promoted! The quest for a postal job has a long waiting list. Most jobs require little education or training. And the pay is high because of a strong union.

As a retired federal employee, I know there are many good workers, but too often poor workers are paid the same rate. Government workers are forced to look alike, think alike and do alike, with no room for individual thought.
